Pet Therapy with Associazione Amici Animali a 4 Zampe – ODV

Animal-Assisted Interventions (AAIs), commonly known as “Pet Therapy,” are a valuable resource for improving people’s health and well-being through the companionship of domestic animals. These projects not only provide a positive experience of interaction with animals but can also play a significant role as mediators in therapeutic, rehabilitative, and educational processes.

The Association “Amici Animali a 4 Zampe – ODV” annually commits to funding AAI projects, in collaboration with multidisciplinary teams, at schools, day centers, and nursing homes in the province of Pisa. Through scheduled sessions, the dog, accompanied by its handler, interacts with the users involved in the projects, offering them a tangible opportunity for connection with animals.

The main objective of these projects is the well-being of the individual, promoting moments of socialization and interest within the reference group. The activities mainly involve psycho-social and educational areas, raising awareness about the value of animals in human relationships.

Numerous studies have demonstrated the positive effects of the relationship with animals on both the social and individual spheres, improving interaction, reducing agitation, stimulating creativity, and alleviating anxiety and depression.
